WWII POW Escape Compass Button

The vest or "Weskit" button escape compass, 3/4" in diameter. Molded bakelite with magnetized internal piece, this button when suspended with a fine thread would indicate magnetic north by the direction the double dots were facing. This particular example came from the RAAF base Dubbo in Australia.
