Bayonet / Sword Cane 1890-1920
A very attractive continental gentleman's sword cane. The shaft of tapered steel, being constructed of two pieces of steel carefully fitted. The top half being the sheath to a WWI era French Lebel Bayonet, the bottom half tapered seamless steel. The blade of this custom built cane being a cruciform bayonet fitted to a very attractive art deco style pewter cane handle decorated with a Scarab Beetle and scrolls, all in high relief. The bottom of the cane handle is scalloped and in excellent friction fit to the shaft. The steel of the shaft is blued as a rifle barrel (black). The overall length of the cane is 35 inches. The blade length is 19 1/2 inches. This is not a throw together, but rather a custom order. The quality of the workmanship is very good and all in all one of the most attractive well balanced sword canes I have seen. Dates from around 1890-1920 and an absolute gem.
