Here we have on offer a GENUINE Hitler Youth Dagger. This is one of the RZM models produced from 1938 - 1945. This particular example is marked RZM M7/5 ( code number for Carl Julius Kiebs, Solingen). The Blade has never been sharpened, and retains virtually 100% of it's chrome finish, ... with only the slightest indication of flaking near the cutting edge. See photographs. The Bakelite Grips are original and have no cracks. The Diamond shaped HJ grip emblem is near perfect, and has a slight wiggle indicating it is pinned in place which would be correct. The original leather washer is also in place on the blade. The only detracting feature of the knife is that a previous owner, ... possibly the original owner removed virtually all traces of the Chrome plating on the metal part of the handle. These were prone to flaking due to the pot metal of the handles, that is, the chrome did not stick well to this area. A previous owner obviously felt that this detracted from the knife's appearance. The scabbard is original as is the leather hanger, and the button snap works perfectly. The scabbard has been repainted however, ... but well done. A small area of paint crackling shows up on the back just under the leather hanger. A small amount of the original cotton protective covering over the internal holding springs is also still present. The scabbard is of steel, and were it not for the repaint job, ... it and it's leather hanger would grade near perfect. All in all a lovely example with only slight scrape marks ( normal ) on the sides of the blade from the metal retaining springs found inside the scabbard. If this example had not had the chrome removed from the handle, and but for the scabbard being repainted, ... this example would be an $ 550.00 example. I have priced it at $ 325.00 to reflect the above noted deficiencies.
