Manju Style Netsuke with Wooden Sagemono

A marine ivory netsuke of Manju style carved to the shape of a walnut. The walnut shape then carved in light relief with a bird sitting on a brandch among a cluster of Chrysanthemums. The back again incized with flowers and the Himotoshi having one hole larger than the other, nicely hiding the knot of the Sagemono chord. The Sagemono in this case being a wooden tobacco container boutnd with a brass band. This is a very old, well used netsuke of the 19th century.
