Partridge Wood Ladies Cane with Porcelain Handle
A nice example of a Victorian era ladies walking stick. The shaft is slender, delicate and crafted from Partridge wood. It is tipped with a nickeled brass toe that holds a steel pick to enhance wear and avoid slippage. It is topped with a porcelain knob that is white and black. The upper "white" surface bears the handpainted portrait of a Victorian lady. The ball's attachment is hallmarked and is English, but the town origin is too faint to make out. Like most canes of this age, it isn't perfect but it is none the less very nice. There is a small age crack in the wooden shaft just below the ferrule. In addition, there are a couple of very small glaze dings on the porcelain knob and the lady is somewhat faded with age. A very nice example of a ladies walking stick from the 19th Century.
