ORIGINAL GERMAN WW-II AIR-FORCE ENIGMA CIPHER MACHINE

This is a complete and original WW-II German Air Force (Luftwaffe) Enigma in good working condition. The serial number 2200 indicates that it was used during the middle of the war. The three basic rotors, I, II, and III are included.

Although it is over 60 years old, this Enigma machine is in in good working condition. To allow the buyer to use the Enigma immediately, a battery holder that accepts standard flashlight batteries is included. Also included are an exact reproduction of the impossible-to-find original 4-volt Enigma battery, a copy of the original manual and a CD-ROM called "The Story of the Enigma: History, Technology, and Deciphering".

This machine was used by the German Air Force during WW-II but it escaped any major damage and has been stored in an attic since the end of the war. At some time during it's use, the original rotors and reflector were replaced by rotors and a reflector with a different serial number. These parts were recently refurbished to original specifications using as many original parts as possible.

It is unusual to find an Enigma that was actually used during WW-II in such good condition. It is also very unusual to find an Enigma that was used by the Luftwaffe since Enigmas were mostly used by the Army and Navy. These factors combine to make this an Enigma that is of great importance to historians and collectors.

The following pictures show different views of the machine:

HISTORICAL NOTE: The Allied forces were ordered to destroy all German Enigma Machines at the end of WW-2. Therefore, they are exceptionally hard to find. The difficulty in finding Enigma machines coupled with an increasing recognition of the historic importance of these machines has led to a steady increase in prices over the years. .

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT PRICES:
As Enigmas have become harder and harder to find, the prices paid in several recent sales of Enigmas have been widely circulated and consequently, the prices of Enigmas has increased dramatically from those of just a few years ago. One 3-rotor German Army Enigma sold at open auction for $ 106,000 USD. Another 3-rotor German Army Enigma without even it's light bulbs was sold for $98,500 and another similar Enigma sold for $89,600. All were sold in as-is condition unlike the present machine which is sold in complete and guaranteed working condition.
