Very Rare German WWII Navy Kriegsmarine 4-Rotor ENIGMA Cipher Machine

This is an exceptionally rare German Navy Kriegsmarine 4-Rotor ENIGMA Cipher Machine.

Our example spent the war ashore and was found in relatively good condition considering its age despite the fact that at the end of the war, the Allied forces were instructed to destroy all of the Enigma machines that they could find. It has been carefully cleaned but no restoration has been performed so it remains in its original wartime condition. All parts of the machine are original and all parts and rotors have serial numbers that match that stamped into the base of the machine.

German Naval Enigma machines played an extremely important part in the history of the U-Boat operations during WWII but very few of them survived. This is a chance to own one of the few surviving original examples of a machine that changed the history of the world. The machine was originally designed to operate with an external voltage or a 4-volt battery which is not available. However, the machine can be operated with two 1.5-volt flashlight batteries which help prolong the life of the extremely rare 4-volt light bulbs. It comes with a set of spare light bulbs stored inside the cover along with two spare plug wires for the plugboard. Also included is a reproduction of the original instruction manual, other reproduced Enigma manuals, and a CD entitled: The Story of the ENIGMA: History, Technology, and Deciphering.

Most of these German Navy Enigmas went down with their ships and have been on the bottom of the ocean for over 60 years.
The few that have been found usually look like this when recovered and are virtually unrestorable.
